Imagine a seguinte situação: você está estudando e aprendendo inglês, e se desenvolvendo bem. Então, alguém lhe sugere começar a estudar chinês também.

A sua resposta poderia ser: “Aí já são outros quinhentos”. Ou seja, você quer dizer que aprender chinês é uma história completamente diferente de aprender inglês, pois chinês é muito mais difícil. =)

Em inglês, há várias expressões que são equivalentes a “outros quinhentos”. Mas, talvez, uma das mais fáceis de lembrar é a whole nother story.

a whole nother story = 'a whole another story' = “Completamente uma outra história”, em tradução literal.
