Vocabulário: COMO DIZER 'ATENDER', EM INGLÊS?

Na dica desta semana mostraremos que, em Inglês, há diferentes formas de se dizer atender, dependendo da situação: atender um paciente, atender um cliente, atender o telefone etc...

atender um paciente ou um cliente em um escritório: to see (someone)

- “What time can the doctor see me”? (Que horas o médico consegue me antender?) - “Mr. Hill, the Governor will see you now”. (Sr. Hill, o Governador irá lhe atender agora.)

atender um cliente em um restaurante, ou em uma loja: to serve; to help (someone) *atendimento: service

- “A good restaurant must have a perfect service”. (Um bom restaurante deve ter um atendimento perfeito.) - “I serve more than fifty clients an hour at the restaurant”! (Eu atendo mais de cinquenta clientes por hora no restaurante!) - “There isn’t anyone to help me in this store”! (Não tem ninguém para me atender nesta loja!)

atender às expectativas/necessidades/exigências: to meet (the expectations/the needs/the requirements)

- “The cruise was fantastic! It met all my expectations”! (O cruzeiro foi fantástico! Atendeu todas as minhas expectativas!) - “Our new products meet all of our customers’ needs”. (Nossos novos produtos atendem a todas as necessidades dos nossos clientes.) - “We couldn’t meet the new project’s requirements”. (Nós não conseguimos atender às exigências do novo projeto.)

atender a porta/o telefone: to answer (the door/the phone)

- “Jill, can you answer the door please”? (Jill você pode atender a porta, por favor?) - “I called him all day long, but he didn’t answer me”. (Eu liguei pra ele o dia inteiro, mas ele não me atendeu.)
